I found it particularly sobering to stand inside the cramped spaces of a Flying Fortress and try to imagine just what it must have been like for the guys flying them in combat.
And of all the places to find a British Spitfire....
And I now know where the phrase 'the full nine yards' comes from....
A great half-day out
Did anyone see my ball come over here?
Along with The Living Desert the Air Museum has to be my favorite place to visit in PS. If one is fortunate enough to visit on a slack day, one may have the good fortune to engage one of the guides in a one-on-one conversation. I was fortunate enough to have had that experience on our visit two years ago, and really enjoyed it. Last year we had the extreme good fortune to visit while the P-63 King Cobra was being flown in an air display. Considering it is probably the only flying version of this aircraft in existance today, to an old pilot like myself, that was a real treat!
Unfortunately last year we had to leave just before the Da Vinci exhibit went on display, but as David has said, it's well worth the admission price.
We're in the middle of a snowstorm right now, so all I can say to you lucky folks down there, enjoy the sun and warmth.
