VillageFestDowntown Palm Springs has a weekly fun great evening event. Each Thursday this event is held on Palm Canyon Drive. The one way downtown strip is closed between 5 and 6:00 PM (PST) until 10:00 PM from Alejo Road to Baristo Road as the street becomes a street fair of hand made crafts locally grown or made foods, live entertainment and great music.This weekly event is for all ages and always features friendly locals, vendor and visitors from all over the world.
This Thursday I will be there! It will be my first outing in PS as a resident! I will be wearing leg warmers with my rollerscates, denim skirt and a white leather fringe jacket so look for me!
From the pina colada licorice to the slice of pizza to the leopard spotted dress I bought for my daughters chawawowa (sp?). I heard that there was not as many booths staying late due to the cold but there sure was a lot to look at! I bought things I didn't need but would never find elsewhere! Soaps and crafts were unique and fair priced. I'm glad I went!
We went to Tonys Pasta Mia (correct name?) after and I enjoyed the crowd!
*** I spent a few moments chatting with the search and rescue booth. I thought it was too bad it was not very popular with the shoppers. These people are the ones who do all they can to find you when you're lost hiking or worse. They put themselves in jeopardizing situations often. Do you know they are VOLUNTEERS? They work off DONATIONS? I purchased a 15$ T-shirt. Although it is unattractive I know my measly $15 went to an awesome cause.
Maybe we can party there together someday!!
No asparagus tho....is the season over? The vegetable stand was too busy to ask them.
I was looking over the Calendar of Events for Palm Springs, and I see that the VillageFest only runs through the end of April 2007. Are they shutting down the Fest? That will be a shame if they did that. It is a very fun event...They sure didn't have anything like that when I was a kid in PS... When the sun went down, the whole town shut down, except for Friday & Saturday.
