Logic here to bring awareness just a few days into the summer desert heat and we have a large forest fire burning already.

 

Palm Springs area has first fire of high temperature days. This just after a heavier then usual winter rain season that made our valley mountain ranges greener then we can remember in years.

 

This means though as the mountain green brush turned to brown over the last 3 weeks +/- that there is a whole lot to burn.

 

Right now Palm Springs is getting smoke from the wild fire in the south end of Palm Springs with the winds taking these wind filled smoke clouds south towards Cathedral City and Palm Desert.  

 

Will discuss more in the morning upon arrival to the Viper Logic world head quarters. This location we are in might change to a new address soon so stay tunes.

The fire is now burning what appears larger as the sunset over the San Jacinto Mountains.

 

Logic can tell you this fire and its orange glow are visible from all of Palm Springs.

We do not know but think the fire started mid afternoon Tuesday.

 

The smell of the smoke, yet no ash is coming onto the south end of Palm Springs. If you were dining in the Murrey Canyon area you might know where Logic hangs out at Leon's in the Canyons. This would be at the Canyon Country Club. you would see this fire as you would have a direct line of sight and be closer to this fire.

 

The fire is burning in the upper top high into the mountains not far from Mountain Center though clearly closer to the Idyllwild area that would be higher up in the mountains above the small Idyllwild Village.

The cam is shooting the images from across the airport about 5 to 6 miles from the fire but we have them.

 

At this time the winds in Palm Springs have aloud the fire to lay down. We might not have winds fueling the fire until the AM hours if at all.

 

No wind would be great as the fire has come down the mountain and into the lower levels of south Palm Springs.

The fire is still burning and the men and woman of the California Department of Forestry (CDF) are working very hard as it is Wednesday our second day into the now named Apache Peak Fire.

 

The ash from this fire has been falling on Palm Springs and its sister city of Cathedral City and Palm Desert since the early predawn hours of Wednesday.

 

We will update you near the evening unless there is any Palm Springs Breaking News throughout the day.  

 

Ok with over 700 acres burned and the winds in the region forbidding aircraft assaults for this fire we are totally dependant as we pass through the first 24 hours of this fires existence.

 

The CDF California Forestry Department are all over this fire which is possing no threat to Palm Springs.

 

Logic will leave the camera 7 pointed in the direction of the fire for our viewers at http://www.PsView.com as the sunsets over the San Jacinto Mountains about 5:30 Pm the glow which we all viewed last evening during the first night of the fire may be viewable again tonight. These images are far from the fire so you have to look closely to see a lot. These images allow Logic to keep a great lookout on the fires progress when it is dark out around 7:45 (PST) Pacific Standard Time.

 

The winds have truly picked up in the Coachella Valley and in South Palm Springs, this is the area just down from the San Jacinto Mountains.

 

There were a few helicopter air drops and an airplane drop but Logic would think there can be no drops today in these strong winds blowing south into South Palm Springs. 

 

The fire has no containment and it is not blowing the smoke nor the ash into Palm Springs and its neighboring cites down valley like Cathedral City, and Palm Desert.

 

Ok more updates on the San Jacinto Mountain Range along the Apache Peak very near Idyllwild.
