Out by the Salton Sea a Union Pacific train derailed the other day...29 cars jumped off the tracks. Currently 40 Homes have been evacutated. The cars contained everything from coal, corn syrup, hazardous chemicals, and various other things. People should be able to return to their homes by Thursday 03/06. The Haz Mat Teams do not think that any of the chemicals seeped into the water tables or the Salton Sea. No body was reported hurt. Thank God for that.
A short note, my Brother-In-Law works for Union Pacific out in North Platte, Nebraka...He is Director in Charge of Track Maintence/Projects & Safety. He was doing paperwork at a job site, & a train came through...he wasn't paying attention, and the train derailed about 15 feet in front of him. He said that scared the wit out of him.
