Don't get mad at me Logic but personally I would love to see ALL and EVERY fast food franchise leave Palm Springs.
An unpopular opinion maybe, but just so you know Del Taco is my favorite fast food (and Quizons).
Anyway, I've lived in a city where no neon signage was permitted after a certain hour, no billboards, and no liquor or beer signage facing public roads. All the shops were boutique style, unique and well kept. The restaurants family owned and even the local Vons store had employees that knew your name. You could throw a stone into the next town over and find a nude gentleman’s club, bars, tons of fast food and along with the trash, graffiti, and oh yes, a mall.
"Back-east" "bed-and-breakfast" feel full of colleges, families and attractive well-kept schools.
For the locals: I personally feel that a Trader Joe's is not just wanted but needed in Palm Springs. There is a cool appeal to that store. They are well kept and really cater to vegans and chefs and those with unique tastes.
But as far as the "vacationers", well, I'd rather see the local families profiting from their restaurants than a franchised drive-through (I know some are individually owned..).
When I am on vacation I want to be attracted to the local sights and foods. Not something I can get back at home.
For us locals....hey, so we drive a mile or so to see the hard shiny plastic in bright red, orange, yellow and blue, to drive through and get that burger....and take it back into the clean, natural colors that peek softly through the palms in Palm Springs and eat on our back patios.
