There is no point in owning a hybrid if your car is in motion for most of the commute. You can save money by just conserving the use of the car and buying a car with higher gas mileage. I'm not sure about global warming but something is happening to the planet. What ever you feel about this issue, there is no harm in conserving energy and making the planet a better place for the next generation.

I don't think that all the H2's are out of the valley just yet. I love those things...great vehicles...now for needing them in Palm Springs, well that I am not to sure about. I saw more H2's driving around the Coachella Valley, then here in snowy Washington State. It's funny in a way, every environmental waco(TREEHUGGER) wants us to have the Hybrid Car, but they are the one that love the H2's, Gulf Stream V's, and the nice big homes. Not all of them, except for a few walk the walk.
Now I agree that we need to produce a better energy, but just plugging in your car isn't the final answer. We still have to produce the electricity to power you clean vehicle. You think gas prices are high now, try electric prices under your new clean energy program. The power grid is in trouble NOW Europe is over 70% Nuclear, but since 3 Mile Island, PA in 1979 & then the scare us movie The China Syndrome(which I love as a good movie) some American's are scared to death of N-Plants. It is a good & safe product. Yes we do have some radioactive waste in the end, but we can contain it, and save coal, Natural gas(cooking & heating), & yes, more power to run your A/C's, light up the night sky, run our PC's so we can play on the internet that the king waco Algore invented, & charge up your clean & what are we going to do with all the batteries when they die...Mr. Hybrid car owner?
America need's to tap into the oil shale in Utah, the Koto Institute or was it the Rand Corp. estimates that we have 3 times the oil in Utah then Saudi ever had. Then we have Anwair in Alaska. Then all the Natural gas we need right here under our own mountain in the good 'ol USA! Tap it all now, before it becomes to darn expensive to do it 10 years from now. Then while we are doing that, get on the serious track to building better & cleaner car, efficient housing, conserve & recycle...I am by no means GREEN, that is today...I am yesterday, and without being the likes of the Sierra Club...a militant group that are pushy, they want progress without real progress...American's just need to come together. Can we save the world...yes to a point. Earth heats up & cools down without man interfering. It has been doing that long before big cities, 7 billion people, planes, trains, automobiles & so called BIG OIL, BIG TABBACO, BIG FOOD, and yes now under the Democrats NEW BIG PLAN...BIG LIGHTBULBS
Boy that is alot. I better stop, I am wasting electricity, and have to pay more to BIG POWER BILL's. By the way when is the next flight to Palm Springs...I want to fly down to enjoy the warm sun of my favorite desert in the whole wide world
