hiiii! i have been in love with palm springs for a while. its absolutely gorgeous. this summer i will be moving to so cal, but i haven't decided where yet. first i have to pick a college. does anyone know anything about the college of the desert? im studying photography. is it a good school and does it have a good photo program? i love the city life of la but i also love the desert so i could really go either way. i just need some info!

also, i am a 21 year old straight female...would i fit in at all? lol. i get along with the gay community here very well if that helps?? :X

and is it boring in that area? i wouldn't think so but i've heard so. but then again i don't think anything is as boring as the town of 3500 people that im from :/

Hello and welcome BeeKeeper, Logic the California Weather Mascot is pleased to have you on the forum. We are also really happy that you would like to live and attend college in the desert at Collage of the Desert.

The college here is a great school and the people here are really wonderful. Where the college is located is in Palm Desert. That area is great and in fact several of the students each year while attending college their also work for us here at Viper Logic. They like the school however they attend it for a few years then move on to colleges in Irvine UC Irvine, and San Diego State and UC San Diego for example.

If you want to know if they have a photography department then their website is your starting point.

Nice to meet you and yes you will enjoy our gay community as these people are and important part of what is Palm Springs. The Palm Springs Gay residents only make up a portion of our growing city these days. Mostly retired gays living in Palm Springs. Cool

thats wonderful. you all seem very nice! but i wasnt trying to target the gay community or anything! i would also like to know if i will fit in being 21 (almost 22!). i tried to find stats on the number of people from each age group living there, but i couldnt find any...

thankyou! well i just found out that COD does not have much of a photo program so i dont think ill get to live there Sad

i didnt think i would be as disappointed as i am!

so my options are LA or Riverside. how long of a drive would it be from riverside to the PS area? just curious.

im just really debating with myself whether i want to deal with LA or not Unsure

ALady you are my hero! riverside cc is one of the schools that i was looking at but im not sure if it would be too far away. how long of a commute is it for your daughter and how often does she make this commute? do you know anything about COD? thankyou for your offer to help me! i am trying to do everything i can to make palm springs my new home!

Palm Springs is full of wonderful people, from all typs of places with all types of styles and tastes. I love the divercity of PS so much. I have lerned new things...met people I would have never met...

I hike and bike, dine and party. I dance and enjoy my life here in PS better than anywhere I have EVER lived before!
