It is raining up here, too, a lot. Scattered showers were predicted, but it's been pretty steady all morning; not pouring, but steady, which is perfect for the plants and lawns. Saves water, too!
I have been Christmas shopping on & off all week, which is nice--I'm almost done, except for my two boys. They are, all at once, the easiest and the hardest to buy for! So, over the next 10 days or so, I hope to be completely done. Then I can concentrate on wrapping. We won't get our tree till about the 14th or 15th.
Here's a question for all you PSViewers...
Do you put up a fresh tree or an artificial tree? And why do you prefer the one you have? (The poll for the weekend!!)
Love to all and thanks for letting me ramble--Be sure to "vote"!
Hi Lesley!!!!
I have an artificial tree and put it up on the sunday after Thanksgiving.
With 3 cats and 2 dogs having a real tree would be rediculous! Especially because I like keeping my tree up so long (until new years!). All the gifts go on top of my china cabinet because Punkin thinks the gifts are for her and opens them!
Yes, it is the weekend. We started ours out with a small winter storm. 8 inches on Thursday, much nicer on Friday, and saw the sun for 20 minutes today. We are now in a Winter Strom Warning...as with the rest of the country in parts. We just might get that White Christmas the Bing Crosby signs about!
My idea of Christmas, is WARM & SUNNY...and YES, a REAL Tree. But that might not happen this year. They are nice, but they tend to make a big mess...and then the spilt water from filling it up...and then the CATS...well I don't have to say anything more
Other then that, I hope everybody has a great rest of the weekend. Enjoy the Christmas Light Parde tonight in Palm Springs.
David
That's good, because I don't want them chewing on needles. We have a HUGE holder for the tree, which keeps them from getting into it. (If they ever got that close)
Frank really wants to make the switch too, David, but he has the two of us to contend with! Sooooo...since Jimmy goes out and picks it out, puts it in his truck, and sets it up, Frank can't complain much--and Mom always does the decorating! And Mom ALSO does the UN-decorating!! Hmmmmmmm...no wonder he doesn't get much say!!! HAHA!
Anyone else wanna comment on their tree?????
However, this year, given the fact that we live on the 6th floor of out new digs, Carolee finally (and reluctantly) agreed that dragging a 'real' tree up the elevator and along the hall - plus the fact that it would be a lot messier taking it back down - dictated the purchase of an artificial tree. Granted, it doesn't have the smell of a 'real' tree, but there are aromatic candles which can pretty much duplicate the aroma and one doesn't have to worry about water or falling needles. With the new technology available today, unless one looks closely, it's difficult to tell a really good artificial tree from the real thing once it is up and decorated. And besides, I have always maintained that a tree almost always looks better in its natural habitat, plus it can be appreciated all year round.
Okay, Lesley...there's my take on the Christmas tree discussion. I'd give you Carolee's as well, but it's not really appropriate for the festive season.
Have a great week, everyone,
Don
So, I can see us getting a good one some year...no cheapies.
Anyone else? (By the way, Carolee, I truly understand your feelings...we definitely are related somewhere along the line!!!! )
