We here in America will like to wish you ALL very Happy Thanksgiving Day 2007
On this day, what do you & your families do? And what is you traditional meal? As you know we consume turkey on ours in November...
David
Up here in the Great White North, our Thanksgiving feast pretty much mirrors that of yours south of the border....i.e. turkey, stuffing, cranberries (or cranberry jelly), and mashed potatoes or yams.
For what it's worth, the reason we celebrate Thanksgiving in October instead of November (as in the US) is that ours dates back to the late 1500's when English explorer Martin Frobisher was trying to find a northern passage to China. He failed, but in 1578 he established a colony in what is now Newfoundland and Labrador, and held a formal ceremony to give thanks for surviving the long and arduous journey. As more settlers arrived, they continued the ceremonial tradition initiated by Frobisher..........and thus endeth the history lesson.
Have a great one,
Don
