We live right off a fairly busy street, but in the last 3 years, we've only had about 10 to 15 trick-or-treaters...over 3 years! I've learned to buy a small bag of something we'll eat if it's left over. I think a lot of parents take their kids to local malls, and many of the local churches also have "harvest" carnival-type things, with games and such. Both choices are so much safer in this crazy world we're in today.
Hey everyone--do you have a favorite Halloween memory?? I have two... #1 is Jimmy dressed as Superman when he was 4...he looked so cute; I'm sure no other little boy has ever looked cuter on Halloween! (Yeah, Les...sit down!!) And, about 15 years ago, I won $35 at an office party dressed as a dowdy housewife...curlers, robe, cold cream. Little did they know--I just rolled outta bed that morning and came as I was!!! (No, not really!!)
How about more memories??? Love to all...
On the upside, we get to eat all those delicious rice crispy squares we bought the day after we got back. It's too bad that our society has degraded to the point that homemade treats are looked upon with suspicion by the childrens' parents due to the few sickos out there which have spoiled it for all the rest. Some of my fondest Hallowe'en memories are of dressing up and going from door to door and recieving all those delicious homemade cakes, cookies, fudge, etc. (Of course the commercial chocolate bars, chips, candy kisses, etc. were pretty cool, too! And back then (today's kids would consider it the 'dark ages') no one worried about needles, razor blades, etc. in the candy. Sometimes the 'good old days' don't look that bad after all, do they?
Take care, Don
